Dominant Aryna Sabalenka Claims Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Honors.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association top performer of the year for a second successive season.

The twenty-seven-year-old won four titles – the most on tour – including retaining the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles triumph.

A Season of Dominance

Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in the French Open final.

The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the world number one, concluding 2025 on top of the rankings for a second straight year.

In July, she became the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams in 2015.

Historic Numbers

Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a 63-12 match record, and picked up a record £11m in earnings.

She earned nearly 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

On 28 December, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".

Other WTA Award Winners

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking a 13-month break following the arrival of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season.
• Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko was honored with the award after starting the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and soaring to world number 18.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after securing their second career Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova was named after reaching five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz secured three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third time.
