Harsh Winter Weather Systems Claim 5 Victims in Gaza Amidst Dire Living Situations in Makeshift Camps.

Strong winter gusts caused walls to collapse onto flimsy shelters housing Palestinians uprooted by war in Gaza, claiming the lives of at least 4 people. This tragedy underscores the perilous situation that persist after over 24 months of intense airstrikes and critical lack of humanitarian assistance.

Truce Provides No Relief from Severe Weather

Although a truce has been in effect since last fall, humanitarian organizations report that Palestinians do not have the adequate housing necessary to survive recurring cold-weather events.

Officials at Shifa hospital, which took in the bodies, reported on Tuesday that the dead were two women, a young female, and a male adult.

According to the medical center, 3 members of a one household — 72-year-old Mohamed Hamouda, his teenage relative, and his son's wife — were fatally injured when an eight-metre high wall collapsed on top of their dwelling in a coastal area of the city. At least five additional people were injured in the incident.
