Oscar-winning actor Zeta-Jones faced criticism regarding her looks at an industry FYC event in November.

Women are rallying behind Oscar-winning actor Catherine Zeta-Jones following she faced disparaging remarks on social media over her appearance at a recent red carpet function.

She appeared at a Netflix event in Los Angeles last month during which a social media clip featuring her character in the latest the 'Wednesday' show became dominated because of remarks about her looks.

Voices of Support

This year's Miss Great Britain Classic winner, Laura White, described the backlash "utter foolishness", stating that "men don't have such a timeline that women do".

"Males escape such a timeline which women face," said Laura White.

Author aged 50, Sali Hughes, stated unlike men, females are unfairly judged for ageing and Zeta-Jones should be free to appear however she liked.

Within the clip, uploaded to Facebook and garnered over 2.5 million views, Zeta-Jones, who is from Swansea, discussed her enjoyment in portraying her character, Morticia Addams, in season two.

Yet many of the hundreds of comments zeroed in on her age and were disparaging about her looks.

The online backlash ignited significant support for the actor, featuring a widely-shared clip from one Facebook user which declared: "You bully females when they get cosmetic procedures and criticize them when they don't have enough work."

Commenters also spoke up for her, one stating: "It's called ageing naturally and she looks stunning."

Some called her as "beautiful" and "very attractive", while someone else said that "her appearance reflects her years - which is simply reality."
