Paceman Atkinson Compounds the English team's Fitness Concerns.

Gus Atkinson added to England's injury problems upon exiting the playing area on the second morning in the Melbourne Test against Australia.

Atkinson experienced discomfort in his hamstring after the final ball of the fourth over at the MCG.

The England team stated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and would spend time off the field in order to be assessed "in the coming hours".

The concluding match in this Ashes battle at the SCG gets underway on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have previously lost fast bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and Jofra Archer to a side strain during this series.

Matthew Fisher was added to the party as cover for Wood.

His form was underwhelming early in the series, taking just three wickets.

He was dropped of the third Test, before being recalled for the fourth Test as Archer's replacement.

Surrey's Atkinson performed better in the fourth Test, bagging two scalps with the ball, before adding 28 with the bat being one of only three England players who passed ten runs.

Following a brief spell at the end of day one, he came back for the second day's play and had nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

Unfortunately, at the end of the fifth over, he sent down a slower ball to the batsman and suddenly grabbed his left hamstring.
