The former president’s corporate entity increased its hiring of foreign workers on temporary visas this year, even as his administration was placing obstacles for other businesses wanting to do the identical, a report published recently claimed.
Based on information from the US Department of Labor, the business aimed to bring in at least 184 overseas employees in 2025 for temporary positions at the former president’s Florida property, two golf clubs and his winery in Virginia.
The number of requests for temporary work visas covering workers including servers, office assistants, housekeepers, kitchen staff and farm workers was the highest ever filed by the organization, and up from over 120 in 2021, when his presidency ended.
It was also the fifth instance in 10 years that the former president had sought to bring in more than 100 overseas workers for seasonal jobs at his Florida resort, based on available data.
The revelation comes amid a crackdown on immigration laws by his government that has included the implementation of a $100,000 fee on skilled worker visas; increased review of the activities of the 55 million people who already hold US visas; and restrictive new rules for international scholars and journalists.
Overall, the business aimed to employ over 560 foreign laborers over the five years the former president has been in the presidency, from 2017 to 2021 and during 2025.
Significantly, the former president was criticized by certain in the Republican party this week for remarks justifying the need for foreign workers when a business was unable to find people with “particular skills” to fill certain positions.
“You can’t just say a nation is coming in, going to spend billions to build a plant, and going to take people off an jobless roster who haven’t worked in five years, and they’re going to start producing their defense systems. It isn’t feasible that effectively,” he told a interviewer after she suggested that overseas employees undercut the wages of American employees.
The White House refused a request for response, and the Trump Organization did not provide an answer to an inquiry.
